More Planning...

Looking Organised! Here is the MAdness in the Method Exhibition Plan...all laid out in paper form, so theoretically it should work in situ right?!...

Everyone is busy involving themselves in set-up and all hands are on deck!

working space

Working spaces are expanding as collections of work grow...

Hard at Work

Looking round the jewellery school, there seems to be MA students EVERYWHERE working away all day with their heads down, trying to achieve their final collection for the assessment and the exhibition....with just over 4 weeks to go until the end time is passing fast so all hands are on deck.....

Work ready for testing out in the display cabinets or 'fishtanks'

Every spare space is being utilised

The studio is looking very busy and productive running up to the last few weeks of our MA

Concentration is at an all time high

MA students are working in a wide variety of disciplines

MA students are putting their final touches to their designs

Some students are even working in wax

All efforts and energy are being put into making the final collections

Spirits are high and we are all excited about showcasing our work to the public eye!

Exhibition Planning

Plans are starting to be put into place within the layout of the exhibition. Organising 35 MA students' work into a space is proving to be a challenge but we are getting there; making sure that peoples work doesn't clash next to each other and making sure we can present our work in a way that will do each piece justice!

Grafting and hard labour from the MA crew!

Our Artist In Residence: Rachael Colley

Rachael Colley, Artist in Residence at Birmingham City University’s School of Jewellery, said: “The students have enthused and inspired me with their knowledge, skill and commitment to their varied design projects. Their perceptive engagement, in particular with their chosen materials and design methodologies, has been evident throughout their development and I greatly look forward to viewing their exhibition.”
A quick peek at a students workspace (we hope to upload a few to let you see the inner goings on as we progress towards our final exhibition).
The office- complete with 3 bottles of ginger beer and lots of selotape.

Birmingham Children's Hospital

This year the MA exhibition is in aid of Birmingham Children's hospital, where we will be raising funds from donations for their Arts Programme as it is very close to our passions as a creative collective and we wanted to share our enthusiasm for this discipline. The Arts Programme within the hospital gives young patients an opportunity to be creative and works as a means of therapy to occupy and stimulate young minds, a chance to escape into an activity when under treatment, using art to aid there recovery by arranging various arts based activities over the summer that will get them out of their beds and sometimes even out of the hospital!

MAdness in the Method

Migrating the workshop

As it is the Summer months, the school is very quiet and it is only us MA students left....so we have expanded from the comforts of our MA studio into the wider school. We have spread out and made the school ours for this precious time leading upto the final exhibition in a couple of months time. Different photos of our creative working places will be posted up soon
